princes-trust.org.uk/thetrust 03ContentsWelcome to our new-look winter 2012 issue of The Trust, formerly known as Enterprising, which showcases some of the inspiring work that has taken place across The Prince's Trust. It has been a momentous 12 months for The Trust. We celebrated our 35th anniversary last summer and have, to date, helped more than 650,000 young people into work, education and training. We also joined forces with youth charity Fairbridge and now deliver this programme in 15 Prince's Trust Centres across the UK. Through our Celebrate Success Awards, we recognised more than 200 young people who have overcome significant barriers to achieve outstanding success. Read about Sami Jeffs, who won the L'Oréal Paris Young Achiever of the Year Award in the South West, on page 8.Last year will also be remembered for less positive reasons. The number of 16 to 24 year-olds out of work topped one million for the first time since comparable records began in 1992. Once again, the media predicted a "lost generation" - a phrase first coined by The Trust back in 2006. We are committed to providing opportunities to young people who may be feeling lost, and our new advertising campaign (see page 12) captures this, positioning The Trust as a real option for young people - giving hope to many in need of support.I would like to take this opportunity to thank you, whether you are a partner, volunteer or donor - we are extremely grateful for your continued dedication and support. In 2012, we aim to help 50,000 disadvantaged young people to change their lives. With your support, I believe we can achieve this challenging goal.
