PARTICIPATIONTHE LTA'S FOCUS IS TO DEVELOP PARTICIPATION GROWTH TO HELP MORE PEOPLE PLAY TENNIS£21.6MILLION(£19 MILLION IN 2010)2011 has seen the focus of British Tennis move towards helping more people play tennis.Whether this is attracting new people to take up tennis or getting those who haven't picked up a racket in a while back on court, the LTA is working together with the Tennis Foundation to get more people of all ages and abilities playing the sport.The approach to growing participation is based on investment in four main areas: Places, People, Programmes and Promotion.Investment in participation has increased by £2.6m from 2010, reflecting the increased focus on helping more people play tennis. £7.1m of this total is invested directly in capital projects.Investment in participationPlacesInvesting in places to play at parks, clubs, schools and tennis centresPeopleSupporting the people who make tennis happen, including coaches, volunteers, and club officialsPromotionBringing together the places, people and programmes to show how tennis is a fun, affordable, family sport which is a great way to get fitProgrammesDeveloping programmes including LTA Mini Tennis, Cardio Tennis and Tennis XpressAll four of these areas are very closely connected and it is through a combination of investment in all of them that participation will increase.
