The industry accounted for just over 6.8% of theregion's workplace GVA in 2008, somewhat greaterthan the national average.. The total contribution to regional GVA was anestimated £17,766m in 2010. The correspondingregional multiplier was 94.8% of the UK-widemultiplier, meaning that only just over 5.0% of the industry's economic impact is felt elsewhere in the UK. . The construction sector accounted for 7.5% of totalworkforce jobs in 2011. This is higher than in anyyear since 2007.. A total 359,172 FTE jobs were supported byconstruction activity throughout the South West in2011, only marginally less than the peak in 2009..
