CLIENTS, PEOPLE, RESULTS6 THE GRADUATE PROGRAMMESeat ChoicesWe try to match your training to your strengths and interests, as well as our own business requirements, when deciding which team to put you into. You request your first seat preference before joining us; you are then given an opportunity to express a preference before each subsequent seat rotation.SupervisionThroughout your training, you will enjoy close supervision from dedicated and knowledgeable lawyers. As your expertise grows, you will be given more responsibility so that you are constantly developing. You will be supported at all times by our professional and approachable graduate recruitment team.DevelopmentWe monitor performance in all of your seats, taking feedback from you and your supervisor and, as part of this process, we hold half and full seat appraisals. We encourage continuous development and offer training, coaching and mentoring to ensure that good performance is maintained. As well as offering the Professional Skills Course, we also support the development of strong teamworking, networking and presentation skills. We offer practical opportunities to improve in these areas such as attending client events, representing the firm on secondment and supporting the graduate recruitment team at law fairs and school visits. Our trainees are also encouraged to get involved in other team-based projects - for example, a group of our second year trainees are currently involved in The Prince's Trust fundraising competition called 'Million Makers' in which they are tasked with setting up a business enterprise, presenting business plans in a 'Dragon's Den' style setting and then implementing those plans. We invest a great deal of time, energy and resource in our trainees. We expect commitment and enthusiasm in return.DURING YOUR TRAINING CONTRACT YOU WILL EXPERIENCE FOUR SEATS IN DIFFERENT TEAMS AT OUR FIRM, EACH LASTING SIX MONTHS. OUR FOUR MAIN DEPARTMENTS ARE COMPANY & COMMERCIAL, PROPERTY, LITIGATION AND WEALTH MANAGEMENT. THERE MIGHT ALSO BE THE OPPORTUNITY TO GO ON SECONDMENT TO ONE OF OUR CLIENTS.7 |
