EnvironmentWe are committed to excellent performance in relation to our environmental impacts. In particular, we have taken action in relation to recycling, our energy consumption and the efficiency of our travel arrangements. We have also organised volunteering days - for example, recently there was an opportunity to volunteer to help the National Trust's staff with clearing/controlling and removing invasive conifer seedlings from regenerating broadleaf woodland on an 18th century landscaped park and nature reserve. The event was very well attended. BenefitsWe want our people to be proud of working for Dickinson Dees and to feel valued and rewarded. A key part of this is ensuring we have an excellent benefits package. We also recognise the diversity of our people and so we have created a benefits package with something for everyone, so people can pick and choose what suits them best. You will be entitled to 25 days holiday per year in addition to bank and public holidays, to join our pension scheme and to opt into flexible benefits such as the cycle to work scheme, dental insurance, health cash plan and Christmas savings club.Financial SupportWe pay GDL and LPC fees. We also offer a maintenance grant to help you through your studies, although we do not pay retrospective fees if you have already completed your GDL and LPC studies.Social SceneOur social committee meets on a regular basis to organise social events throughout the year. Theatre trips, quizzes, beach barbecues, karaoke competitions, fancy dress, bike rides and pub hunts have all featured in the past, and will no doubt feature again in the future. We recognise that two years is a long time between being offered and starting a training contract with us. We therefore arrange social events to allow you to keep in contact with the firm and with your fellow future trainees. There are also a number of sports teams, with matches generally being played against clients, law firms and other local businesses.12

Applications for work placements are made online (hard copies are available on request) and should be submitted by 31 January. There are ten places available on each work placement week. Candidates of all ages, backgrounds and disciplines are welcome to apply, provided you are at least in the penultimate year of a law degree, the final year of a non-law degree or have already graduated. All that we ask is that you are working towards or have achieved at least a 2.1 classification in your degree.Work placement weeks provide a perfect opportunity to experience what it is like to be part of our firm. During the week you will be given lots of information about who we are, what we do and the clients we work with. We share with you our ambitions for the future and arrange for you to meet with representatives from each of our departments - all in an attempt to help you to decide whether we are the right firm for you.HOW TO APPLYYou spend the majority of the work placement week with our trainees. The opportunity to work with our trainees doing real client work is incredibly valuable. We encourage candidates to get involved with the work and ask lots of questions. As well as being a fantastic opportunity for you to gain quality work experience and an insight into what it is like to work for Dickinson Dees, the work placement week provides us with a chance to determine whether you are right for us. If you are not able to attend a work placement week, you still have the opportunity to apply for a training contract. The closing date for training contract applications is 31 July with interviews taking place in August and September. IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO APPLY FOR A TRAINING CONTRACT AT DICKINSON DEES WE WOULD ENCOURAGE YOU TO APPLY FOR A PLACE ON ONE OF OUR WORK PLACEMENT WEEKS.
