1Your adventure starts here! The Network has been a springboard for new TV talent for over 20 years. You've been selected from thousands to be part of the scheme - this year we had a record number of applications - so please make the most of every second! Over the course of the weekend, you'll be given exclusive access to some of television's most powerful and successful people in special masterclasses. You'll also get the chance to make TV, in workshops run by Sky News, Hollyoaks, CBBC, Zeppotron and ITV.By the end of the weekend, you'll have a taste of why working in television is one of the best careers you can have. You'll also receive practical advice on getting your first job. I'm sure that being on The Network will whet your appetite for making TV in future, and on Sunday afternoon you'll hear about an exciting competition we are launching with VisitScotland. In a few weeks time, you could be making a short film inspired by Scotland - we're looking forward to hearing your ideas!You are part of the MediaGuardian Edinburgh International Television Festival, one of the most important media events in the world. Part of the fee from people attending the Festival goes towards funding The Network and our sister talent scheme, Fast Track. You'll be able to attend a few sessions at the TV Festival, as well as some of the evening receptions. By getting to The Network, you've already given yourself a major advantage. This is the most prestigious and comprehensive introduction to TV available in the UK.If you're not sure right now what you've let yourself in for, I promise you that by the end of Sunday, you'll feel clearer about your media ambitions, and better equipped to make them happen.You may have heard that people only get on in TV if they know the 'right' people or went to the 'right' college - but that's not true.
