54LTA Player GuideLTA >Alex Ward2008 was Alex's first year playing senior events. Since earning his first ATP ranking in 2008, he hit a career high of 472 at the end of last year. He enjoyed a successful summer in 2010, qualifying for and then reaching the quarter-finals of the AEGON Trophy, playing in the Wimbledon qualies and reaching two semi-finals before the end of the year. He was also called up as the reserve for the GB Davis Cup tie against Turkey in 2010. GuideLTA Player Guide55>James WardJames Ward is Britain's No. 2 player. He trained for much of his teenage years at the Juan Carlos Ferrero academy in Spain but is now based at the National Tennis Centre in Roehampton. In his professional career he has won five singles titles - the first being a Futures event in Spain in July 2008. He has so far won four Futures events, the most recent being in August 2010 in Spain and he has also won one Challenger event in Sarasota in May 2009. James' highlight of 2010 came at the AEGON International in Eastbourne where he reached his first ever ATP quarter-final with wins over Feliciano Lopez and Rainer Schuettler. James has played at Wimbledon in the main draw on one occasion in 2009, the year that he reached his career high ranking of 187.
