44LTA Player GuideLTA >Katie O'BrienOriginally from Hessle in Yorkshire, Katie was national junior champion at several age groups. She competed at numerous junior Grand Slams before making an early transition to the women's game. She won her first title at $10k level in her home town as an 18-year-old and has gone on to add a further three titles all at $25,000 level at Nottingham (2006), Jersey (2006) and Sutton (2009). A former British No.1, Katie broke into the world's top 100 in January 2010 after making the final of the $75k event in Barnstaple and then hit career high of 84 two months later. Katie kicked off 2011 at the ASB Classic qualifying in Auckland and has reached the final of the $25k event in Mildura. In Grand Slams, she has recorded two main draw victories - at Wimbledon in 2007 and at the Australian Open in 2010. As a junior he played mainly in Britain, but began to travel on the ITF tour after sitting his GCSEs in 2002. He won his first title in 2006 in Naples but a knee injury sidelined him for 18 months during 2007 and 2008. 2009 was his comeback year when he won the Madrid Futures in April and made four other $15k finals. His three other title wins came in Italy (May 2006), Spain (September 2010) and Madrid (April 2011). His most notable achievement to date was being crowned champion at the 16U AEGON British Junior National Championships having come through qualifying. In February 2011, he was selected to represent GB at the Tennis Europe Winter Cup Finals in Ronchin, France which he and his team mates came home with the title. So far in 2011, he has reached the quarter-finals of the AEGON Junior International Edinburgh (Grade 5), qualified for Vasteras ITF (Grade 4) and got to the third round of the AEGON Junior Nottingham International.
