GuideLTA Player Guide41>George MorganGeorge announced himself on the tennis scene after making the final of the Junior Wimbledon boy's doubles event last summer. After competing in the US Open Juniors, he reached the quarter-finals of the Grade 1 Yucatan World Cup in Mexico and the Eddie Herr Championships. However it was in December that he scored the biggest win of his career so far, when he became the first Briton to win the 18U title at the Orange Bowl, three years after he was crowned 14U champion. George started 2011 down under at the Australian Open Juniors where he won through four rounds to reach the semi-finals and has since concentrated on competing in Futures events. After a successful junior career which was highlighted by victory at the US Open Junior Championships in 2004, Andy made his ATP debut in 2005. In 2006, he captured his first ATP title in San Jose. He defended the title a year later, and reached back to back semi-finals in Indian Wells and Miami. In 2008 he won five ATP titles and reached the quarter-finals of the AEGON Championships and Wimbledon. After competing in the Beijing Olympic Games, Andy reached his first Grand Slam final at the US Open and also qualified for the Tennis Masters Cup in Shanghai. He went on to reach two more Grand Slam finals, both at the Australian Open in 2010 and 2011.Andy followed up a win in Miami in 2009, with a career-best run to the quarter-finals of Roland Garros, his first grass court title at the AEGON Championships and his first of two semi-final appearances at Wimbledon. He won his fourth ATP World Tour Masters 1000 trophy in Montreal to rise to a career-high ranking of No.2 in August - the first player to break the Federer-Nadal stronghold on the top two spots since 2005.
