He turned professional at 16 and travelled on the ITF junior circuit, winning his first international junior tournament in Adelaide. He moved to the senior game in 2005 and gained his first senior points in May of that year. In 2006, Chris played Futures events, finishing the year with a ranking of 774. 2007 was a frustrating year with 13 weeks lost due to injury, but Chris collected two Futures titles in GB and Israel. Six months later, Chris took Wimbledon by storm after he qualified for the tournament and then in the first round beat Boris Pashanski (SRB) who was ranked nearly 550 places above him. At Wimbledon a year later, Chris hit the headlines again after he and doubles partner Dominic Inglot who were given a wild card, stunned two-time defending champions Daniel Nestor and Nenad Zimonjic in five sets to reach the third round. Chris made his Davis Cup debut in 2009 against Ukraine after winning through the LTA play-offs, taking 6hr 40min to beat James Ward, winning the fifth set by 21 games to 19. Chris has had a good start to 2011, winning four Futures doubles tournaments and one Futures singles title.2011 Singles Activity:January QF Glasgow ITF, 2r Sheffield ITF, R/U Kaarst Germany ITF February 2r Nussloch Germany ITF, 2r Cherbourg CH Qualifying March 1r Tipton ITF, SF Bath ITF, 2r Bath CH Qualifying, WON Taverne April 2r Johannesburg CH2011 Doubles Activity:January Won Glasgow ITF (w/A.Slabinsky), Won Sheffield ITF (w/J.Goodall), R/U Kaarst Germany ITF (w/A.Slabinsky), February QF Nussloch Germany ITF (w/J.Goodall), QF Cherbourg CH (w/F.Moser) March Won Tipton ITF (w/J.Goodall), Won Bath ITF (w/J.Goodall), 1r Bath CH (w/J.Goodall) April 1r Johannesburg CH (w/D.Molchanov UKR)

She reached a career high ranking of 311 at the end of 2008 but developed tendinitis in both achilles which put a stop to any further progress up the rankings. In 2008, her best year yet, Amanda reached the semi-final of Sutton $25k, qualified for the AEGON Classic in Birmingham and reached the second round of Wimbledon qualies. She made her debut in the Wimbledon doubles event in 2008 playing with Katie O'Brien and then a year later teamed up with Elena Baltacha.
