TraiNiNg6BrOadlaNd BuSiNESS FOCuSYoung people are being given 'outstanding'help in meeting their needs as they train forthe world of work, an Ofsted report into oneof Norfolk's leading work-based learningproviders has concluded.The 'outstanding' category rating wasachieved by Broadland Council TrainingServices, the training arm of BroadlandDistrict Council, as part of an overallperformance rated 'good' by inspectors.BCTS, based on the Hellesdon Business Parknear Norwich, provides work-based learningin a range of careers and for young people ofvaried abilities, including those not ineducation, employment or training.Ofsted concluded: 'Leaders and managersare good at promoting ambition andimproving outcomes for learners,' and addthat success rates continue to improve, withmany now being above the national average.'Learners develop a wide range of good skillswhich help them improve their employabilityand abilities at work. They use these skills welland as a result of their training they gainpromotion or additional responsibilities at work.'BCTS works well with learners, includingthose not in employment, to help them gaingeneric skills and abilities such astimekeeping, confidence and self-esteem.BCTS provides good value for money.'Inspectors said learners at the centre and onworkplace-based courses appreciated 'thevery friendly, approachable and supportivestaff', while employers working inpartnership with BCTS praised staff as 'a joyto work with.'BCTS centre manager Sharon Money said: "It'sheartening to get such positive and encouragingfeedback from Ofsted.
