TraiNiNgThe 'Eco Cube' training building inRackheath is now nearing completion andBCTS business training courses will startthere before Easter. The Centre has beenbuilt by Tilia Properties Ltd of Rackheath on a"design and build" basis and incorporatessome up-to-date eco attributes. Mostnotable is the very high level of insulation inthe walls, floor and roof, as well as tripleglazed windows, which will ensure that theCentre is cheap to heat and to cool. Theheating and cooling is provided by an AirSource Heat Pump, distributed throughceiling cassette units. Initial water heating isfrom solar thermal panels and the toilets areserviced from a Rainwater Harvesting systemwhich should cut down water consumptionbills. There are also solar PV panels to providesome of the electrical power for the building.Tilia Properties have, wherever practical, usedlocal suppliers and subcontractors, with wellover 75% of the value of the buildingcoming from Broadland and Norfolk. Thesteel staircase was fabricated in Rackheathand the Rainwater Harvesting system issupplied by a Broadland company,Eco.RainSolutions that only started tradinglast year with the owner attending the BCTSBasics for Business course in 2011. Thetraining food technology kitchen is also beingsupplied and installed by a Rackheath company,Broadland Catering, and the high spec audiovisual suite is being supplied and installed byRPM Solutions of Horsham St Faiths. The architect's artistic impression, createdabout a year ago, bears a striking resemblanceto the completed building, which of courseisn't always the case with artistic impressions. The building will be landscaped with trees anda large grass area and will benefit from anadjacent redevelopment of some existing unitsinto a cafe and Board Room centre. We lookforward receiving many Broadland businessesto the Centre for training courses and to workwith Norfolk schools on bespoke projects.
