Selection is by interview and appraisal of your portfolio.Why should I choose this course?This practical, hands-on Higher Education course will provide you with the essential skills, knowledge and understanding of 3D design practices to enter the cultural and Creative Industries.In the first year you will be developing essential generic based studio skills that are common to all of the popular 3D design discipline areas covered on the programme i.e.; understanding the design process, professional 2D&3D presentation skills including drawing, rendering and computerised visuals. Using both 2D vector based software such as ACAD, 3D software such as Solid-Works, developing knowledge of essential materials and processes, model making, health & safety issues etc. The 2nd year of the programme enables all students' to focus towards their chosen discipline area through working on live project briefs, work placements, developing essential business knowledge such as freelancing and preparing portfolios for career progression. How will I be taught?You will be taught by highly enthusiastic, qualified and industry experienced lecturers through a mix of:. Practical workshops and demonstrations. Lecturers and seminars. Group and one-one tutorials. Visits to galleries and museumsYou will also have the opportunity to work on client led briefs and to exhibit your own work.How will I be assessed?The programme is module based and this encompasses primarily practical project work with some academic written assignments, report writing and oral presentations. There are two main assessment points at the end of each semester (A and B). You must achieve a minimum of 240 credits to be awarded the 3D Design FdA Certificate.What can this course lead to?Learners may progress onto the 3rd year top-up BA (Hons) degree programme in Product Design at UEL, or similar entry into other degree specific programmes, or direct employment in the cultural and creative industries.
