corvara and pedraces badiatwo enchanting villages nestled under spectacular peakssuperb access to easy, moderate and high level walksAt the same time, trails leave both of themin various directions for the high rockyreaches of the Puez Odle and Fanes NationalParks, which spectacularly dominate thevalley and offer countless high levelitineraries. As for Via Ferrata, it makes littledifference where you stay - Corvara mighthave the edge. Corvara has 2 gondolas, one to the PralongiaPlateau at 1980m, the start of some easierand moderate walks and some bike trails,the other to the eastern turrets of the Sellaat 2152m, the start of some amazing highlevel itineraries including 2 Via Ferrata.Corvara is the biggest village - the most'resorty' if you like, with more shops, cafésand many sports facilities, including skating,a swimming lake, climbing wall, golf, tennis,archery etc.Pedraces Badia has a chairlift that is a 'must'wherever you choose to stay, opening upwalks of all grades. At the top of thischairlift, you can drop in on Rifugio Nagler(run by our friends, Roberto & Giusi) for adrink or some superb food. It's a gloriousspot. Moreover, mention you are withCollett's, they tell me they will do somethingfavourable with your bill! Pedraces Badia issmaller than Corvara but it's a gem andpeople come back year after year. The Dolomites acquired UNESCO WorldHeritage status in 2009. At their heart, theVal Badia wends its way below magnificentmountains to the foot of Monte Sella, a vastand glorious massif and one of the greatDolomite peaks that exceed 3000m. The high end of the Val Badia is a paradise ofdramatic rock and idyllic valleys. This is theAlta Badia and it is home to our chalets,hotels and apartments. We are in the neighbouring villages ofCorvara and Pedraces Badia, which boaststrategically superb access to numerouswalks, Via Ferrata, mountain pursuits andplaces of interest, many of which areaccessible from the doorstep. Whatever youchoose to do, you'll soon be glad you came.If you choose to come to the area without acar, you can use public transport, chairlifts,gondolas and cable cars to good effectduring much of the season.Corvara and Pedraces Badia each have theirown startling backdrops of majestic massifs.These glow rose pink at sunset, as ifgenuinely on fire. This is the Enrosadira andit brings a mystical air to the valleys. The mountain panoramas will absorb you forhours. People gaze in awe from the valleys,which by contrast are characterised bywildflower-strewn pastures, woodland andsleepy hamlets, where the window-boxes ofold farmhouses overflow with colour. which village?Don't agonise too much on where to stay, asboth our villages are close to each other andit is quick and easy to get to one from theother. The two villages are joinedby a delightful riverside track.
