Your tour leader can help organise a trip across the River Plate to Colonia in Uruguay, a gentle train and boat trip to the delta at Tigre or a dinner at a tango show.Days 4,5 By air to Puerto Iguazú, gateway to the overwhelming spectacle of the Iguazú Falls in their tropical national park setting on the border with Brazil. There's an optional excursion to see the panoramic views on the Brazilian side of the falls where there are opportunities to visit a quirky bird park and take a helicopter ride. You also have a full day's guided excursion with your tour leader to explore the walkways above and below the cascades on the Argentine side.Days 6-8 Fly to Salta at the foot of the Andes in the northwest. Based in this pleasant colonial town you a have day trip through blood-red canyon country to the vineyards of Cafayate, with wine-tasting. There's an optional excursion northwards to Humahuaca Gorge, where villages retain their pre-Conquest indigenous Andean culture. Salta itself has a graceful baroque cathedral, cable car ride for city views and an interesting museum-it's a good place just to relax. Day 9 Fly to Bariloche in the rugged hills of Argentina's lake district. Optional chair lift to the peak of Cerro Campanario to enjoy the sunset and some of the best panoramic views in the region.Day 10 Guided excursion to visit several viewpoints on the shores of Lake Nahuel Huapi including Playa Bonita, San Eduardo's Chapel, Puerto Pañuelo, and Bahía López.Day 11 Fly to El Calafate, lakeside resort in southern Patagonia.
