In May 2010 hundreds of young hopefully from colleges across London and the South-East used our state-of-the-art facilities to compete in a series of craft disciplines as part of WorldSkills UK.Celebrity TV builder Tommy Walsh was on hand to provide encouragement and motivation. Barking & Dagenham College excelled in a variety of heats, with nine learners securing a winning position within seven of the disciplines overall. We are due to host the event again in 2011, so we hope we can beat that excellent result. After first studying for his site management course, he recently completed an HNC in Construction at Barking & Dagenham College, and claimed a number of prestigious awards whilst doing so.Not content with winning a bronze in the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) Site Management Awards, he was also awarded the Paul Andree Award for Outstanding Achievement in the Field of Expertise. Graham praised our tutors, saying: "Thanks to their willingness to educate and devote time to me, I have been able to excel in my area of expertise." Graham also won the Grant Mills Construction Award, which is presented annually as part of the College's Excellence Awards. |
