Real work for our learnersAs a benchmark of the skills that our learners gain with us, we are often commissioned by external organisations Cathy Walsh, Principal and Chief Executive, chats to graduates at our Higher Education Awards & Graduation Ceremony - just one of the annual events to celebrate the achievements of our learners.and local employers to work on commercial projects. This gives our learners real work experience, providing them with a head start when applying for jobs after leaving college. Our partners in the local community include the NHS, Barking & Dagenham Chamber of Commerce, the Olympic Delivery Authority, The Metropolitan Police, Park View Care Home, Fresh Wharf Estates, Jewson's and Morrisons.Investing in your positive College experienceDuring the past year we have invested substantially in refurbishing key areas of the College. From our welcoming reception area (designed and created by our Graphic Design learners), our Learner Help Centre, our ultra-modern refectory and Chef's Hat Restaurant, which provides a real work environment for learners, through to our Learning & Development Centre where you can enjoy excellent study support. Why not come and see what we can offer you at one of our open events. We have four throughout the year and you will find details in this guide and on our recently launched new website. I am confident that Barking & Dagenham College can help you achieve your 'personal best' and I look forward to welcoming you.Cathy WalshPrincipal and CEO
